The Process
Once you decide to dedicate your time and money towards a bespoke suit, there are a few simple steps to follow. We will outline them here so you know exactly what to expect during the process.
First Meeting and Measurements
Before anything can be made, you will have to consult with your tailor in regards to your desires for your new suit. This involves discussing the style, cut, and fabric you desire. Once that is established, your tailor can move onto taking your measurements if they haven’t already. This involves the slope of your shoulders, the measurement of your waist and leg, and more. You don’t need to know everything about suits prior to coming in; the tailors at Festari are experts in their field and know all of the right questions to ask. Just stand naturally and relax.
The Based Fitting
During your second meeting, your tailor will drape something called a basted garment over you. This is made of the cloth you have chosen and has been stitched together for the creation process. This allows your tailor to reshape the suit as needed. It won’t look like much at this point, but this fabric will aid your tailor in properly shaping the new suit to your form.
Forward Fitting
This step is when your suit finally springs to life. As your tailor adds to the suit, you will be able to chime in with your input. While it may seem wide, don’t worry about this, it will be adjusted later. You should pay most of your attention towards the length and general fit around your waist and arms. Wearing a dress shirt to this fitting is recommended. If you have anything to say or add, do it here before the radical changes are made.
Final Fitting
This will be your last step. You will put the suit on once more so that your tailor can adjust it even further to your body. The jacket and trousers will look the most done at this point – with additions such as buttonholes and lapels.
